The main objective of this course is to improve your speaking skills in English. Thirty minutes of practice EVERY DAY, and you will sound like the “real thing” in three months. The genres to be covered in this course are summarizing and making one-sided arguments. |

The first half hour of the class will be spent for extensive listening, where you will listen to various different materials, from movies to videos to radio shows to songs. You will summarize or make an argument based on the contents of what you have listened to. You will also be engaged in individual practice using a technique called “Mimeospeak.” Class 1: Class introduction Class 2: Syllabus overview / Extensive listening explanation / Mimeospeak explanation Class 3: Characteristics of Academic Spoken English Classes 4 - 7: Summarizing / Making one-sided arguments Class 8: Summary presentation (1) Class 9: Summary presentation (2) Class 10: Mimeospeak test (1) Class 11: Movie day Class 12: Presentation based on the movie (1) Class 13: Presentation based on the movie (2) Class 14: One-sided argument presentation (1) Class 15: One-sided argument presentation (2) / Mimeospeak test (2) |
