達成目標(2,000文字以内)
/Themes and goals(up to 2,000 letters)
The main objective of this course is to improve your writing skills in English through 1. reading and learning to emulate the effective construction of English passages, and 2. putting that knowledge to use in your own writing.  Specifically, you will learn to describe step-by-sep how something is done or how something works (“procedure”) and to make an argument by presenting opinions and/or evidence both for and against an issue (“two-sided argument”).  You will also learn vocabulary items in science and technology, which you will find necessary in your career.  You must be committed to studying outside of class to be successful in this course.  Your success depends on your efforts!

The first half hour of the class will be spent doing extensive reading, where you will be reading a lot of books in easy English.

You will work with the textbook the rest of the class time. You will again spend much time reading, as the ability to write is dependent on the knowledge garnered from reading. In each class we will practice writing procedures and arguments.

Also done every week are vocabulary quizzes and 5-minute quick writes.
