前期に引き続き、英語を書く活動に重点を置くが、パラグラに加え、論理的で説得力のあるエッセイが書けるようになることを目指す。そのためにモデルとなる英文を読んで、必要な基本事項を学習し、明確な主題をもつアカデミックな文章－エッセイを書く練習を行う。具体的には、物事のやり方 (process) を説明する、および賛否両論あるトピックを論じ、最終的に自分の意見を表明するエッセイ (Two-sided argument) に取り組む。また、テキストのほか、最近の英文雑誌、新聞、インターネット等から採用した文献の講読を通して、筆者の主張を的確に把握する力をより一層養うとともに、自身・他者の書いた文章を推敲するタスクを重ねて、より完成度の高いライティングを目指す。 |

進度によって調整するが、後期はおおむね以下のスケジュールに沿って進める。 第1週 Ice breaker activity, Communication through speaking and writing 第2週 Review of paragraph writing; Introduction to Process paragraph 第3週 Practice of writing a process paragraph; Listening to and/or reading an article in the textbook 第4週 Introduction to Essay writing 1 – Thesis statement, Introductory paragraph, Body paragraphs 第5週 Introduction to Essay writing 2 －Concluding paragraph, transition words 第6週 Practice of writing a process essay 第7週 Peer editing and revising drafts; Listening to and/or reading an article and group discussions 第7週 Introduction to Two-sided argument essay 第8週 Practice of writing a two-sided argument essay 第9週 Reading an article and group discussions 第10週 Practice of writing a two-sided argument essay about the topic students read 第11週 Peer editing and revising drafts; Review of transition words 第12週 Making outlines of two-sided argument essays about the topics students choose 第13週 Peer editing of students’ final essays and revising drafts 第14週 Reading an article and group discussions 第15週 Wrap-up of the course; Final Review Quiz 様々なピックに合わせ、テキストやインターネット等から抜粋した文献の講読 ペアやグループでのタスク/ディスカッションを随時行い、それぞれの発案、考えを深める場を多く設ける。これらの活動から沢山のインプットを得て、各々のアウトプット＝ ライティングに活かしてほしい。 |

成績評価：以下の項目を総合的に評価する。 ・ホームワーク・クイズ・期末復習クイズ 30% ・課題（概ね３回。授業中に指示） 50% ・授業への積極的参加（In-class writing 等を含むタスクの提出、グループ/ペアワークへの貢献） 20% 計100% 評価基準：以下の到達レベル/条件をもって合格の最低基準とする。 ・平易な英語を使い、論理的な構成で自分の主張を表現することができる。 ・英文講読を通して学習した語彙や文章表現をかなり自由に活用できる。 ・様々なテーマの文献の大意を的確に理解・要約できる。 ・決められた課題が全て受理されている。 ・学期中３分の２以上の出席を満たす。（但し、遅刻３回で欠席１回とみなす。） |
