The objectives of Academic Written English II are:
Students will demonstrate the ability to:
• participate effectively in academic discussions
• use academic writing conventions in their own writing
• identify instances of plagiarism and explain why it is a serious offence in academic writing
• explain the main points of a text
• argue in support of and against an issue
• summarize, paraphrase, and quote, as appropriate
• read critically and revise thoughtfully through drafting and staged assignments.

Participation & Effort 10%; Vocabulary Quizzes 10%; Class/Homework 10%
Writing Assignment 1: Procedures 30%; Writing Assignment 2: Two-Sided Argumentative Essays 40%
**Rubrics will be provided before each assignment or task.

 Your grade for the semester is calculated from your achievement in the assignments and your effort in class and homework. You will have to give evidence that you have done the work. Remember, you get what you earn. I do not hand out A’s at the door.
 If you are going to be absent, please talk to or email me before class begins to make arrangements for turning in your homework, making up class work, or getting any assignments or handouts you missed. If you do not contact me before class starts, any assignments you need to turn in will be considered late and you will not get credit for them.
