The main objective of this course is to further improve your speaking skills in English. The genres to be covered in this course are procedures and making two-sided arguments. The students will be engaged in activities to improve their fluency in English in much of the class time. |

The first half hour of the class will be spent for fluency activities, individual practice using a technique called “Mimeospeak.”In the rest of the class time, you will tell how to do something (procedures) or make an argument based on the contents of what you have seen. Class 1: Class introduction Class 2: Syllabus overview / Mimeospeak practice explanation Class 3: Characteristics of Academic Spoken English Classes 4 - 7: Mimeospeak practice + Lightning presentations on procedures (Show & Tell) Class 8: Procedure presentations Class 9: How to make two-sided arguments Class 10: Movie day Classes 11-14: Mimeospeak practice + Lightning presentations based on the movie Class 15: Two-sided argument presentations |
