Welcome to this class! The goal in this course is to continue from Academic English for the Second Year I (AE2Y I) in developing your speaking and writing skills over topics towards written abstracts of academic arguments with introductions, and discussions and compositions of methods and results with clear conclusions.

As before, there is no textbook. The teacher's blog will continue to be used in this class to upload class material and information about class preparation and assignments, plus supporting paper handouts on topics and topic organization. /Course outline and weekly schedule(up to 2,000 letters)
Week 1: Class information & guidance

Weeks 2-6: (Week 2); reading/discussing/developing an academic written argument with method & results (Weeks 3 through 5) with short presentation/short developed written composition (Week 6)

Weeks 7-11: Reading/discussing/developing position towards first draft of written abstract proposing methods, results, & conclusion (Weeks 7 through 10) with research presentation & rough practice presentation about research (Week 11)

Weeks 12-14: Submission of final drafts of written abstracts/development & revision of final research presentation & draft of written research composition

Week 15: Final research presentations/final written research compositions submissions/optional post-teaching survey

Week 16 (if necessary): Make-up presentations/written topics

Spoken methods & results presentation & short written composition: 25% (Topic summary 5%; spoken methods & results presentation 10%; written methods & results composition 10%)
Written research abstract: 15%
Final spoken research presentation & written research composition: 45% (Presentation outline 10%; spoken research presentation 15%; written research composition 20%)
