/Topic and goals
Due to COVID-19 and the state of emergency, this class will be taught online for at least the first several weeks. We will use Zoom and Google Classroom. Students who want to take this class should contact me by email by 12 noon, May 11. Please contact me as soon as possible.

The objective of this class is to develop students' ability to use spoken academic English, in particular, to use English for discussion and for presentation.

Students will find materials to use for class, keep a dialogic journal, video-record a group discussion related to each theme, prepare for in-class discussion and presentation practice, and prepare and practice three class presentations.

Students will be graded on the work they do for the class.

Participation (including homework): 10%
Video-recorded discussions: 30% (10% each)
Dialogic journals: 20%
Presentation (Theme 1): 10%
