The goal in this course is to continue from Academic English for the Second Year I in developing your speaking and writing skills with academic arguments with introductions, and discussions of methods and results with clear conclusions. This term we will carry out group work in writing an academic research abstract and preparing a short presentation about the topic of the abstract, then developing the abstract into a research paper, with a more fully developed final presentation about the topic of the paper, showing the methodology and results of the research of the topic.

As you will be working in groups this semester, it is necessary that the group members work equally and fairly with each other, and coordinate the group research and effort. While there is no homework the teacher will assign directly, the groups must understand that at least some research may have to be done outside of classes.
