/Topic and goals
The purpose of this course is to re-introduce the students who have failed the course previously to the basics of English language for science and engineering with a thorough review of the major academic skills covered in the compulsory English courses in the first and second year English curricula, such as skills for group discussion, critical thinking, academic reading, academic writing (accuracy and fluency), academic presentation and other related areas. Building knowledge of technical vocabulary, and developing summarizing skills will also be addressed in this course. This course adopts a student-centered approach to teaching methodology and genre-based approach to subject content, and builds foundation for  the Intermediate English for Science in the Fall semester.

Please note that Remedial Classes (再履修クラス)only accept the students who have failed the same course previously. Any students who have not yet taken this course, including returning students from school leaves (過年生)and transfer students(編入生), should go to a regular class of their own programs offered from Period 1 to Period 4 on Thursdays or Fridays.
