(a)主題: 幅広い専門知識を有する大学院修士学生にとって,技術英語文章の読解・作成能力ならびに英語でのプレゼンテーションスキルは必要である. 本授業では,専門知識を用いた国際プロジェクトの遂行や海外学会での発表といった国際の場で活躍できる高度専門技術者の育成を目指す.
(b)達成目標: 専門分野の技術英語について,「読む」「書く」に関する知識・能力と「プレゼンテーション」のスキルを身に付ける.
(a) Course goals/mission: For graduate school master students with broad expertise, reading comprehension and writing abilities of technical English or research English and presentation skills in English are necessary. Graduate Technical English (GTE) aims to train highly specialized graduate students to be active in international contexts, such as carrying out international projects, using expert knowledge and presenting at international academic conferences.
(b) Course objectives: To acquire knowledge and competences of "reading", "writing" and "presentation" skills in English of specific research areas.

ガイダンス後,プログラム毎に以下の1~3項の内容に関する講義を行う.
ただし,プログラムにより下記1から3の講義順は異なる.

1. 技術英語文章の「読解」を主とする講義:4回(うち1回は第1回目に実施)
2. 専門分野の技術英語を「書く」ことを主とする講義:5回
3. 英語での「プレゼンテーション」を主とする講義:7回(うち1回は2.の第5回目に実施)

技術英語文章の「読解」を主とする講義では,プログラムの各教員を中心にオムニバス形式で担当します.教員が用意する英語の技術資料や論文を用いて,その内容の読解と日本語での要約を行います.英語を「書く」ことと英語での「プレゼンテーション」を主とする講義では,各自が卒業発表で使用したスライドを題材に,要約の作成,パワーポイントを用いたプレゼンテーションスライドの作成ならびに英語での発表を行います.発表およびその評価には全員が参加します.授業ではPCを使用します.

In the first lecture, guidance and explanations are conducted. Subsequent lectures on the items 1 to 3 below are given in each course. However, the orders of 1 to 3 below differ depending on the course.
1. "Reading comprehension" of technical English texts: 4 lectures (one lecture is given just after the guidance)
2. "Writing" technical English in specialized fields: 5 lecture
3. "Presentation" in English: 7 lectures (one lecture is given just after the fifth lecture of 2.)
The lectures on "reading comprehension" are held in an omnibus format by departmental faculty members. Using English technical materials and research papers prepared by faculty members, students comprehend the content and summarize the materials and papers in Japanese. The lectures focusing on academic "writing" and "presentation" in English ask students to write an English abstract of their graduate research, to create a ppt file based on their graduation research, and make a short individual presentation using the ppt file. Students are also required to participate in peer review of other students’ abstracts and presentations.
