Academic English for the 2nd Year II is the 2nd stage of AE2_II The aim or goals of this course are to improve academic reading, discussion, writing, and presentation skills, and reaction to Academic research or articles. Two genre will be studied 1. Academic Research paper written; An academic research / investigation. 2. Academic Research presentation, spoken; An academic research / investigation. |

授業内容と その進め方(2,000文字以内) /Course outline and weekly schedule(up to 2,000 letters) |
1. Listening, speaking / discussion / reading / summarizing / writing / oral presentation. 2. There will be pair & group work 3. The class will be taught in English only. 4. Any research will be in English only. Week 1 A review of Semester 1 AE English. Weeks 2-3 Class survey based on a teacher provided topic, an introduction to others opinions. Weeks 3-4 Intensive reading on a teacher provided topic, discussion activities for critical thinking, and opinion Weeks 4-8 Academic Reaction;. Mid Term Paper. 1. An introduction of the topic. The history or situation. 2. A critical reaction to the topic/research/writing. Weeks 8-9 Class survey based a teacher provided topic, for opinion. Weeks 9-10 Intensive reading on the 2nd topic, discussion activities for critical thinking, and opinion Weeks 10-14 Academic Reaction;. Final Term Paper. 1. An introduction of the topic. The history or situation. 2. A critical reaction to the topic/research/writing. * This schedule may be changed slightly because of progress or average ability of the class. |

Class attendance is compulsory and included as classroom effort / co-operation with other students. 20% * Students who miss 4 classes with or without officially acceptable excuses, he/she will need to go to talk to a counselor at the Nandemosoudan Office. * Students who miss over 30% of total classes without any officially acceptable excuses automatically fail. 2. Completing all tasks that are assigned during each class or as homework / Note taking. 20% 3. 2 X Academic Papers (See aboveその進め方 ) 60% 1. 1st Papaer. 30% 2. 2nd Paper 30% |
