Students in this course will understand the components of genres of academic spoken English, i.e. one-sided argument and summary, selected for students of science and engineering. It fosters the basic academic speaking and listening skills as well as critical thinking and other academic skills, such as reading and outlining, required for achieving the communicative goals of the genres. Activities and teaching materials are chosen and designed by individual teachers as shown in the course outline and weekly schedule below. |

【毎週の活動】 １）小テスト ２）グループディスカッション ３）クラスでの個人発表（学期中に2度以上） ４）リスニングと発音練習 ５）語彙力強化練習 ６）Summaryと One-sided argument の学習 【第1週】授業方針の説明・自己紹介 【第2週】強弱のリズム、発音と綴り（例：mat vs. mate）、 母音（1）、summary（1） 【第3-5週】母音（2-4）、summary（2-4） 【第6,7週】子音（1,2）、one-sided argument（1,2） （5月から6月にかけて、summary の oral presentation（2回）を 授業外の時間に） 【第8週】中間試験 【第9-13週】one-sided argument（3-8)） 【第14週】期末試験 （1月から2月にかけて、one-sided argument の oral presentation（2回）を 授業外の時間に） |

中学・高校での、また、学習塾での英語教育活動経験を通し、 「英文を読む力」と「英文の構造を把握する力」、そして 「英語の語彙力」の必要性を実感している。それを授業に 活かしたい。 |
