講義情報/Course Description

主題および 達成目標（2,000文字以内） /Themes and goals（up to 2,000 letters）	（主題）先端技術の倫理学 19世紀までの倫理学にはa. 人間は自然を大きく破壊することができない、 b. 科学技術は人間そのものを対象としていない、c. 人間と神以外に自律的な存在者はいない、という三つの前提がありました。ところが、a.は今日もはや誰も賛成しないでしょう。さらに脳科学、AI・ロボット工学などの発展によって、b.と c.も問題視されています。科学技術の進歩が伝統的な倫理学の前提をも変えてしまったのです。その結果として、20世紀以降様々な応用倫理学が展開されてきました。 　本講義では、19世紀までの倫理学の歴史を概観した上で、エンハンスメントの倫理、脳神経倫理、ロボット倫理、戦争倫理、情報倫理など最新の応用倫理学を扱います。このことによって、みなさんが取り組んでいる先端技術にどのような倫理的な問題があるのか、「持続可能な開発（sustainable development, SD）」を実現するためにはどのようなルールが必要なのか改めて考えていきたいと思います。 （達成目標） この授業の目標は（1）伝統的倫理学の特色と前提を理解すること、（2）科学技術が倫理学にどのような変容をもたらしたのかを理解すること、（3）持続可能な社会を作るためのルールを学ぶこと、（4）先端技術の持つ倫理的な問題を自分で考えられるようになること、の四点です。 （Topic）Ethics of advanced technology Ethics up to the 19th century had three presuppositions: A. Humans cannot destroy nature greatly; B. Science and technology do not target humans themselves; C. No autonomous entity exists other than humans and God. However, Nobody can agree on  presupposition A. today. Besides, presuppositions B. and C. become problematic due to the development of brain science, AI engineering and robotics. Technological progress has also changed the presuppositons of traditional ethics. As a result, various applied ethics have been developed since the 20th century. This course provides an overview of the history of ethics up to the 19th century and covers the latest applied ethics such as ethics of human enhancement, neuroethics, robot ethics, war ethics, and information ethics. Based on lectures on these topics, we will reconsider ethical issues concerning the advanced technologies that you are working on, and rules for the realization of a sustainable development.    (Goals) The goals of this course are (1) to understand the characteristics and presuppositions of traditional ethics, (2) to understand how technology has transformed ethics, (3) to learn rules for the realization of a sustainable society, and (4) to be able to think for yourself about ethical issues of advanced technology.

授業内容と その進め方（2,000文字以内） /Course outline and weekly schedule（up to 2,000 letters）	以下の内容を予定しています。 第1回　イントロダクション：科学技術と倫理の相補的発展 第2回　カントにおける人格と物件の区別：理性を持たないものは全て人間の道具である。 第3回　功利主義：「最大多数の最大幸福」というスローガンの含意 第4回　パーソン論（1）トゥーリーの「中絶と新生児殺し」：胎児は生きる権利を持たない。 第5回　パーソン論（2）トゥーリーに対する様々な批判 第6回　サヴァレスキュのモラルエンハンスメント論：悪い人は薬で治すべきなのか？ 第7回　ハリスVSサヴァレスキュ：道徳的エンハンスメントは人間の自由を損なうか？ 第8回　自由意志に関する様々な理論：ハリスとサヴァレスキュとの論争の再検討 第9回　ロボット倫理学（1）ストローソンの反応態度説とロボットの帰責 第10回　ロボット倫理学（2）スパローのソーシャルロボット批判と世界を正しく把握する義務 第11回　戦争と平和の倫理（1）戦争倫理と正戦論：正しい戦争はあるのか？ 第12回　ロボット倫理（3）スパローの自律型兵器システム批判と戦時国際法を基礎づける尊重の概念 第13回　戦争と平和の倫理（2）カントの『永遠平和のために』：平和実現のための諸条件 第14回　情報化社会とプライバシーの倫理 第15回　倫理的問題を見据えた科学研究：山中教授と京都大学iPS細胞研究所の取り組み 作成したプリントに即して講義します。さらに、各授業の終わりにリアクションペーパーに感想・質問を書いてもらい、次の授業の冒頭でその一部に応答します。 1. Introduction: complementary development of technology and ethics   2. Kant's distinction of person and thing: everything that has no reason is a human's tool. 3. Utilitarianism: implication of the motto "the greatest happiness of the greatest number." 4. Personhood argument(1)Tooley's "Abortion and Infanticide": an unborn baby does not have a light to live. 5. Personhood argument(2)Various criticisms against Tooley. 6. Savulescu's theory of moral enhancement: should we treat wicked people with a medicine? 7. Harris vs Savulescu: does moral enhancement undermine human freedom? 8. Various theories on human free will: reexamination of the dispute between Harris and Savulescu. 9. Robot ethics (1) Strawson's reactive attitude theory and the responsibility of robots. 10. Robot ethics (2) Sparrow's criticism of social robots and a duty to avoid delusion. 11. Ethics of war and peace (1) just war theory: is there a just war? 12. Robot ethics (3) Sparrow's criticism of the autonomous weapons system and the concept of respect that underlies the law of war. 13. Kant's "on perpetual peace": conditions for the realization of peace.   14. Information society and ethics of privacy. 15. A ethically correct scientific research: efforts of Professor Yamanaka and Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University. Lectures will be given based on handouts. At the beginning of each class, I will answer questions and comments students wrote on minute papers.
