Students in this course will understand the components of genres of academic written English, i.e. one-sided argument and summary, selected for students of science and engineering. It fosters the basic academic reading and writing skills as well as critical thinking and other academic skills, such as discussion, required for achieving the communicative goals of the genres. Activities and teaching materials are chosen and designed by individual teachers as shown in the course outline and weekly schedule below. |

Blogging and Journals. -Summary 1 Week. 5: Summarizing: Self-Regulated Strategy Development: RAP -Summary 2 Week. 6: Summarizing: Paragraph level - -Summary 3 Week. 7: Summarizing: Multi Paragraph - -Summary 4 Week. 8: Summarizing: Short Essay - -Summary 5 Week. 9: Argumentative Essay: "Brainstorming" “Researching” - Essay Topic Due Week. 10: Argumentative Essay "Outlying and Introduction" -Essay Sources Due Week. 11: Argumentative Essay "The Body of Paper", Research: -Essay Outline Due Week. 12: Argumentative Essay "Conclusion" and “References” -Draft 2 Due *Academic Reading Test*(Mandatory University Test). The test will be 30 minutes long, with 50 questions. Week. 13: Peer Review and Feedback. -Draft 2 Due Week. 14: Final Essay Due: Reflections and Future Improvements |
