/Themes and goals(up to 2,000 letters)
Students in this course will understand the components of genres of academic spoken
English, i.e., two-sided argument and procedure, selected for students of science and
engineering. It fosters the basic academic speaking and listening skills as well as critical
thinking and other academic skills, such as reading and technical writing, required for achieving the communicative goals of the genres. In-class activities and teaching
materials are chosen and designed by individual teachers as shown in the course outline
and weekly schedule below.
