Students in this course will understand the components of a scientific research report,which includes both written research reports and spoken research presentations. This course fosters academic skills necessary to perform research and communicate research findings, including writing, presenting, and critical thinking skills. This will be accomplished by conducting one or more research projects, either individually or in a group, and writing at least one research paper and giving at least one research presentation. Activities and teaching materials are chosen and designed by individual teachers as shown in the course outline and weekly schedule below. |

Categories of Research: Qualitative vs.Quantitative Research. Session 4: Journal Discussion #3. Intro to Research.How to develop a strong research question. Forming a research purpose statement. Session 5: Journal Discussion #4. The Academic Vocabulary Test Session 6: Journal Discussion #5. How to write a research paper introduction. Session 7: Journal Discussion #6. Designing a questionnaire. Session 8: Journal Discussion #7. Writing good questionnaire questions. Session 9: Types of Data: Nominal, Ordinal, Interval/Ratio Collect data for your research. Session 10: Structure of a research paper(IMRaD).Conduct a pilot survey. Session 11: How to write a title for your research paper. Collect data for your research.
