You will engage in "International Virtual Exchange," where you will interact with university students either from all over the world, including other universities in Japan, by conducting online exchanges on various topics. You will have opportunities to practice effective writing skills to convey your ideas in a persuasive manner. You will be able to express yourselves more easily by the end of this course. |

1. We will take part in the International Virtual Exchange Project with participants from all over the world. Because of the time difference, the exchange is basically asynchronous, but real-time interaction with college students in far-away countries will also be organized every week, and you are expected to participate. 2. You will receive minute comments on your composition from me, which will improve your skills in English as you correct your writing. 3. At the end of this course, you will write a two-sided argument paper based on your thoughts and research into international cultural exchange. Week 1: Class introduction (description of International Virtual Exchange) Week 2: Preparation for Forums Week 3: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 1 (1) Week 4: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 1 (2) Week 5: Class discussion on Topic 1 Week 6: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 2 (1) Week 7: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 2 (2) Week 8: Class discussion on Topic 2 Week 9: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 3 (1) Week 10: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 3 (2) Week 11: Class discussion on Topic 3 Week 12: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 4 (1) Week 13: Writing and interacting internationally on Topic 4 (2) Week 14: Class discussion on Topic 4 Week 15: Class wrap-up (Schedule subject to change) |

You will receive communication from other participants in this Project about twice every week, to which you will reply. The interaction with them will be done both inside and outside of class. You are also expected to send me your compositions as soon as you write them, and I will comment on them. You can and actually should participate in real-time interactions with overseas students. |
