The main aim of this course is to develop academic speaking skills in English through students' interests and free online software. Presentation skills covered throughout the course will be an attractive opening statement, concise structure, message to match the audience, interaction with the audience, and keeping within the time limit. Students will also learn to develop critical thinking, autonomous learning, discussion and coordination skills in English through interaction with the teacher and their peers. |

The first class is face-to-face. Come to the first class to the classroom for guidance and student selection. Join Google Classroom and complete the survey for the student selection by the end of the first class. Week 1: Guidance (Course Introduction, student selection, course introduction, instructions for Google Classroom) Week 2: Self introductions Week 3: Wix -demonstration Week 4: Wix -making your own site Week 5: Wix -presentations Week 6: Scratch -demonstration Week 7: Scratch - making your Scratch Week 8: Scratch -presentations Week 9: Academic Presentation -evaluation Week 10: Google Forms project -demonstration Week 11: Google Forms - demonstration of ppt for academic presentations Week 12: Google Forms - Progress report Week 13: Academic presentation -evaluation and progress report Week 14: Academy presentation -presentations Week 15: Reflection, English learning goals, Autonomous learning (the schedule is subject to change) |

Students will need to do research out of class to find supporting evidence, create Google slide documents, create software (using GUI) for the presentations and discussions. Group work will involve coordination out of class with your classmates. |

Assessment: Class participation (discussion, attitude and team work): 20% Assignments: 10% Preparation and presentation using online software (wix): 20% Preparation and presentation using online software (scratch): 20% Preparation and presentation using online software (google forms and GoogleSlides): 30% Note: Make the effort to attend every class in order to be involved in class participation. |
