主題および 達成目標(2,000文字以内) /Themes and goals(up to 2,000 letters) |
This course consists of two parts: [1] Joint tutorial sessions and [2] Research under each supervisor (Labo/Seminar). Following the previous semester (Interdisciplinary Seminar I), the Joint tutorial sessions aim further to help students deepen the academic questions in studentsʼ own research fields and to feed them back into their own works/research in the Labo/Seminar under each supervisor. In this second step, students are expected to focus more on helping peer students, and re-examine the ongoing research project, having a doctoral thesis in the scope. Through discussions with peers and tutors, these tutorial sessions aim to enable students to become mindful of the commonalities and specificities of their research within sustainability research. Students are expected to develop logical connections between different questions and be encouraged to think about how to organize the doctoral research project and thesis. |

Interdisciplinary seminars consist of the two parts noted below: ◎ Joint tutorial sessions (See the next section for details) The lecture trains students to acquire the basic skills and practical knowledge for interdisciplinary studies required at the university level. Please consult with your academic principal supervisor. ◎Seminar/Laboratory work under triplet research supervision scheme Students take seminars organized by the academic principal supervisor. While participating in regular seminars with the academic principal supervisor, students attend seminars provided by supervisor or laboratory work. * Please note that the curriculum has changed starting from the 2025-26 academic year, and the content of Interdisciplinary Seminars is different. There will be no Academic Literacy classes; for 2024-October entrants, each relevant semester’s Seminar/Laboratory work is considered Interdisciplinary Seminars’ credit. □ Joint tutorial sessions ▸Instructors Chizuko Sato(TUFS), (TUFS), Koji ENOKI (UEC) Kazue DEMACHI (TUFS), Terumasa ITO (TUAT), Yasumura Yuki ▸Summary and goals of the course The Joint tutorial sessions aim to deepen the academic questions in studentsʼ research fields and enable students to explain the purpose and significance of their research concerning existing research through discussions with tutors and peers. In addition, the course will train students in organizing and orientating their own research through discussions and getting/providing reflections. Students are expected to understand the difference between “topic” and “question” and find the right starting point for their research. The tutorial sessions will support students in pursuing their research by paralleling the seminars provided by their academic supervisors. ▸Overview of the course Students will attend the tutorial sessions to achieve three goals: 1) Examine the research proposal at hand, 2) Set a viable and meaningful research question, and 3) Write them down in the form of an “introduction” of a paper. Students are requested to work proactively to deepen their research questions and learn their background of the topics in between. Students are also expected to acquire a broader academic perspective in terms of sustainability research. Students will hold discussions and share ideas and problems with peer students and tutors (“sounding boards”) through Interdisciplinary Seminars I and II, two cycles. ▸Schedule: Saturday, April 12 [Before New Student Orientation] Time TBA 1. Introduction [Day one] Saturday, April 19 9:00-12:00 2. Guidance at finding a research question 3. Guidance for searching the literature [Day two] Saturday, April 26 9:00-12:00 4. Talk to a sounding board: Re-examining your question 1 8. Make questions list and apply the diagnosis test 9. Talk to a sounding board: Re-examining your question 2 10.
